Rustic Barn Wedding

I have asked a lot of brides what their theme was for their wedding and I heard a lot of "Rustic Barn." I thought I better bring back my all time favorite rustic barn wedding. I love the lemon & lime theme.

I have been to some really wonderful weddings, but this one has to be my favorite!! What a beautiful and unique wedding! Ok, I'm biased- this is my daughter's wedding! We had the greatest wedding professionals to help us pull this off! I could write a whole blog on each of these great companies - well as a matter of fact I think I will... soon! I learned a ton going through this process as the mother of the bride. So I'll tell you all the inside scoop from a mothers point of view!  I need to say that Natalie is a peacemaker, so there wasn't too much drama. Dang! But since I am in the industry I had some great ideas, I thought... but ultimately I let Natalie make the final decisions as to what she wanted for HER wedding. I was not going to be accused of being a Momzilla!

I have to explain, my love struck daughter decided to have a 9 week engagement! What were they thinking?! I won't get into that...  Natalie had been dating Trent for 20 months (yes she was counting). She was ecstatic to have found "The man of her dreams!"

There was so much to do and keep track of. I needed budgets, checklists and timelines and I had a hard time keeping all of this straight. I'm the type of person who likes to write everything down to help me remember. The sticky notes were starting to drive me crazy, so I created my own system. This organizer is now available to you as the Pink Wedding Planner

In the process of planning the wedding, the first thing I asked Natalie was to make a list of her top three priorities. Her number one priority without even thinking was her dress, second priority--her dress, third--her dress. Obviously she wanted the perfect dress, so we went to The Perfect Dress!  Everyone at the store was awesome to work with and the final outcome was Natalie had the dress of her dreams! She chose the Maggie Sottero Ambrosia.

Like most girls Natalie had spent years planning her wedding long before she was engaged. She had the theme of limes and lemons  which went along with the color scheme- yellow and green. She wanted to have the reception at her grandma's barn, by the way this is no ordinary barn. Now we had the dress, the venue, the theme-- this was all starting to come together nicely. Time to get the invitations ordered! Mike Bailey helped Natalie design a fun invitation...

Natalie decided to have the family dinner and the reception the day before the wedding. This made it so fun to divide it up into two days! We looked at BrideAccess.com weather to see what the temperature was going to be on the April 21 and 22. It turned out to be cool, but beautiful. For the family dinner we had Goodwood BBQ- Natalie's favorite. She wanted cake and ice cream to feed her guests so we called Leatherby's and ordered 6 ice cream flavors and they do all the rest!  I absolutely loved Natalie's Wedding cake! Diamond Rental brought everything from tables, chairs and linens to the barn and picked it all up the next day. Easy! Busath Photography was amazing with Miyo Strong behind the camera. I wasn't going to let Natalie make the same mistake I did and not hire a videographer. We let her choose the videographer and she loved Chris McClain's style- fun! My other strong suggestion was to have an old fashioned car. Of course we called Sam at Something Vintage Something Blue and he brought Dazee to the barn and Princess to the ceremony- everyone loved it!  The entertainment was the photobooth from All Occasions Photobooth. That was so fun! It was a beautiful Utah Wedding in Pleasant Grove and downtown Salt Lake City.

Here are the pics of how it turned out...

I learned a lot helping coordinate my own daugthers wedding. It ended up being Natalie's wedding she wanted and it was perfectly wonderful!

Beauty, Health and Fitness is something to start on as soon as you are engaged. Start eating right, taking care of your body, exercising and find ideas for hair, nails, make-up, etc. This is the day you want to look your best, so start preparing now. Try new things now instead of a week or two before the big day. Listed below are some experts to help you with this process. This is a hard category to completely check off now, because it is a work in progress until the big day.  We have all kinds of things in this category- massages (yes!), dance classes, hair and make-up, and exercise.  I have done all of these and they are all equally important- now and throughout your life. Have fun with this category!

This list will give you the best 6 wedding invitation companies for you to consider. All of them do amazing work -  see who you feel fits your style the best. This category is a fun one and your decision is going to be totally based on the theme and style you are looking to pull off on your wedding day. It's music and entertainment. It can go anywhere from a string quartet, a band, a DJ, etc. One thing is this piece of your BIG GAME is important. The entertainers we have are all very experienced and will keep the party going at the speed you want it to go. They will be your fun and your clock- one thing you probably didn't realize! They will help remind you that it's the time you wanted to cut the cake, throw the bouquet, have your BIG DANCE, etc. If you want to be totally entertained for the next hour or so - sit and watch many of their video's and hear the music they provide. Think all of this through with the atmosphere and mood you want for your celebration.  It's all good- it's all different! And it's all up to you!

Flowers...  This ties in the decorations, your theme and the wedding colors you have chosen. Here are 8 elite floral shops ready to serve you and help you make the best of everything! Since we are talking about free throws, it reminded me of an idea that was given to me when I was married- The florist made my bridal bouquet but when I was ready to throw my bouquet, we traded it for another one that was made- and this was special because it was 24 red roses that were singles, so when I threw it there were 24 girls who got a rose! They loved it and it was a fun surpirse. Lets get on with this madness...

What uniform is he going to wear? Make sure your man shows up looking like a million bucks!
