4 Things To Complete Your Wedding Day Bridal Style

Four Things to Complete Your Wedding Day Bridal Style by Taylor Made Wedding Events

Every bride wants to look fantastically gorgeous on their wedding day and almost every bride, has a budget. Often, brides feel it’s a no brainer to cut out hiring a professional to do her hair and makeup, skimp out on wearing jewelry (other than the ring) or create their own bouquet or not have one, especially for bridal photos.

The mentality is “I’ve been doing my own make up since I was 12, I can do it on my wedding day, and save money” With so many brides opting to take this route, as a planner, I felt it my responsibility to share what I see as a result of brides doing their own hair and makeup on a wedding day and offer four things to complete your wedding day bridal style.

Here are two “before” photos of two brides.  This is them without makeup, hair done, or jewelry. Taylor Made Taylor Made

Here is a photo of how the brides have done their own hair and makeup on their wedding day. They look great but notice how the look feels plain and incomplete because the makeup is everyday styled, as with the hair and there are no jewelry accents.

Now we are going to use the professionals...

Here are those same two brides with professionally done hair, makeup and jewelry additions. What a difference!

As you can see, the difference is huge! Both brides are beautiful but with the magic of a professional, and a few accessories, they change from gorgeous girl to super model bride!

So with those photos in mind, (and you should always keep your photos in mind because they will remain after the day is done and over)here are the four things to help you look your very best on your big day.

  1. Hire a professional to do your hair. A professional hair stylist knows how to keep your hair looking great, and staying in place for your wedding day and bridal photos.  They also can suggest styles that work best for your face shape and hair texture, something that maybe you hadn’t considered.  Whenever I have my hair professionally styled, I always feel like such a rock star, and I can never pull off that style when I try on my own, so another great reason to hire a pro is their work induces a confidence that you may not have otherwise on your big day.  You want to look spectacular and you want to know it!
  1. Hire a professional makeup artist.  This professional can bring out your best features; hide minor flaws and having you walking out the door looking like a super model!  Many makeup artists offer color and test run consults to show you how you would look on your special day. Makeup artists also take into consideration if your wedding is outdoors or inside. Makeup for outdoors sometimes needs to be a bit darker so your features don’t get lost in the sun and in photos.  A professional also uses makeup such as primer, which allows your make up to last all day and night long, without having to re-apply. A professional also doesn’t cake on the makeup… you leave feeling as though your face is make-up free but you look prettier than ever.
  1. Find the perfect jewelry.  Simple but lovely jewelry can complete your bridal look without going over the top.  Depending on your dress neckline, you may not need a necklace but earrings and a bracelet are just right to complete you look. Or maybe a simple statement necklace is the way to go.  Always take into consideration that you do not have to be covered in jewelry or have super dramatic makeup to look great. Some jewelry stores have employees who are fantastic at helping you find just what you are looking for. You can go in with a photo of you in your dress and they’ll be able to help you decide which jewelry to use (necklace, earrings, bracelets, hair pieces, etc...) and find jewelry pieces that will compliment your skin tone and wedding colors.
  1. Don’t forget the bouquet! Colorful flowers can add that perfect pop of color that brings out your eyes or the faint green in your hand picked jewelry.  Hire a professional florist to do your bouquet and for your bridals, be sure to have a bouquet that is the same size as the one you will have on your special day. You don’t want to remember how the Costco flowers you put together died halfway through your photos and wedding or how you had a small bouquet in photos but your actual wedding day bouquet was twice the size. Your bridals bouquet that is most photographed and ten years down the road, you will remember this bouquet.

I’ve worked with too many brides, where we’ve focused on creating a fantastic wedding only to have the bride arrive not looking her best or having bridal photos she doesn’t like because she looks plain. My job as a planner is to help you along your wedding planning process and part of that includes helping everything look perfect, including you! So I hope you are inspired and happy planning! --Taylor

How To Clean And Store Your Lingerie

I am wondering how to clean and store my lingerie.

                                          Blue Boutique, lingerie | BrideAccess

Blue Boutique had my answer... "Alright ladies! You all know how to rock lingerie, so lets learn how to properly wash and store these intimate items. Here at Blue Boutique, we can help you learn how to care for those dedicates, so that you’ll have them for years to come. First, it is very important to read the care tags on the lingerie in order to keep from damaging it. Some products will say “dry clean only.” This is very important to follow. The makers of each lingerie line know their products. It can be a bit of a pain, but it’s much better than ruining your new lingerie and basically throwing your money away. Most lingerie is “hand wash only.” There are a few items that say “machine wash,” which you can, but I still always hand wash them. It’s less harmful to the delicate materials. If your washer has a delicate or hand wash setting, and you wish to use it, make sure to put all of your lingerie into a mesh bag so they don’t potentially snag on the agitators. When it comes to detergent, make sure you are using a very gentle, bleach free detergent. Personally, I recommend using a lingerie specific detergent. We carry several different types of these, so here are your options:
DONA by JO
This lingerie wash comes in a range of different scents to choose from, including, goji berry (my favorite!), pomegranate, acai, blue lotus, camu camu and mangosteen. It is a paraben free, cruelty free, and an all natural product. To start washing your lingerie, add ½ cup of DONA lingerie wash with 1 gallon of lukewarm water. Soak for 5-10 minutes while gently hand washing items. Rinse, but do not scrunch up lingerie. Put items flat on a towel, fold it up, and roll it while putting pressure on it. This will safely soak up the water. If lingerie is lace, NEVER hang dry it. This will cause the lace to stretch out and deform. Always lay it flat to dry.

Eucalan: This is a no rinse, delicate wash. This product is a non-toxic, biodegradable, phosphate free, natural lanolin enriched formula. This line does have different scents as well and they are: lavender, eucalyptus, jasmine and grapefruit. They also make an unscented wash. There are a few different ways this product can be used.

- Hand wash:
Fill basin with tepid water and add 1 tsp of Eucalan with 1 gallon of water. Squeeze lingerie gently and soak for at least 15 minutes. There is no need to rinse! Follow the same drying directions I gave for the DONA care.

- Top loader washing machine:
Fill machine with tepid water and add 1 tsp of Eucalan per gallon of water. Stop the washer and add lingerie. Gently squeeze articles and then let soak for 30 minutes. By- pass the rinse cycle and put it on the spin cycle. Same drying care as stated above.

- Front loader washing machine:
Load lingerie and select the cold water setting. Add Eucalan to the fabric softener drawer. Put on delicate setting and you may use the spin option for this one. Same drying care as stated above.

Now that you know how to properly clean your lingerie, I’m going to give you a few tips on how to store them:

Never smash your bra into a drawer if it has any kind of padding in the cup. This will cause it to lose its shape. Always lay them in your lingerie drawer nice and neat. I would do this with any bra whether it is padded or not.
For other lingerie, fold it nicely and put them in the drawer. There are lingerie dressers you can buy if you have the means to do so, otherwise you may want to designate a specific drawer for your intimates.
Make sure to not over-fill the drawer, as this will wrinkle your garments.
I wouldn’t hang anything up because of the potential to stretch out the garments.
To keep your lingerie smelling fresh, you can put a dryer sheet in the drawer or even a mesh bag with rose petals in it.

Remember, it may take a little extra effort, and follow these simple care directions, you will prolong the life of your lingerie and keep you looking sexy for years to come!
