Distinctive Inscriptions Calligraphy

How did a football- loving chemist become a calligrapher? Ashantai Yungai tells us!

“You can’t have handwriting like this son! Come on in here and practice!” That was my father’s assessment and admonition of my terrible handwriting when I was in third grade (who doesn’t have terrible handwriting in third grade?!).  I was most inclined to play football after school, homework, and chores. So my father made a deal with me: “No penmanship practice, no football,” he said nonchalantly.  (It should be noted that my father also thought that football was a “barbaric sport”). What’s a nine-year-old kid who absolutely loved football to do? I accepted his deal, only to continue playing football.  I thus performed the perfunctory assignment to get back to my real love!  From 3rd to 5th grade I was practicing penmanship for 30 minutes a day, five days a week.

Over the years, my penmanship developed into a unique style.  Acquaintances would often ask, “How did you get such beautiful handwriting?” I would reply with the above story. I was often asked to write quotes and statements for friends.

Since then my passion for calligraphy has literally flourished.  I enjoy writing names and quotes in exquisite lettering styles and flourishings.  While I thrill in doing calligraphy in any manner, I especially enjoy doing both place cards and envelopes.

I have developed a flair for hand-lettering in a variety of styles, from whimsical to formal to the fancy flourish.  All of my lettering styles are done by hand with brass dip nibs and ink or water-based pigments such as gouache. I produce quality work and take pride in my keen sense of attention to detail and providing exquisite art. It is pleasing to receive compliments on my work and more pleasing to see the ebullience on the faces of clients when they receive their completed projects.  My desire is to create for you an exquisite collage of calligraphy in all facets."

Wedding Tour of Utah- More Salt Lake City & Parley's!

The Brides' Shop is downtown and I felt like a queen just walking through their door. They schedule appointments so you have one on one attention. This bride, Megan Gee Phillips, bought her dress at The Bride's Shop and you can see just how beautiful she looks!  Megan wrote to them, "Thank You SO MUCH for all of your help! I loved my dress so much. It was so perfect for me and was everything I wanted!"   Thank you Kate Benson Photography for the pics. Watch our TV show this Saturday 6:30pm Channel 4 to see more of Megan and Andy's brilliant wedding. This wedding was not staged - this is the real deal!!

Wow that was amazing!  I was off to see more of the wedding professionals right here in downtown Salt Lake...

Anniversary Inn was next, and they have two locations in Salt Lake. This can be a fun hotel for the night of your wedding, an anniversary, or any other time! I love the theme styled rooms.

Well what do you know! I stopped by Jaffa Printing and here is an invitation that looks remarkable- and familiar.

Thank you Jaffa for letting me show Megan & Andy's wedding invitation. It goes along so well with her theme.

Now I went up Parley's Canyon only a few miles from Salt Lake City to the majestic Louland Falls. My sister-in-law was married here and we love this place. It is the perfect outdoor setting under towering sandstone cathedrals and cascading waterfalls. While the main terrace, with it's beautiful lawn and heated pavillion, provides ample room that a wedding and reception require.  Look at this- it's gorgeous!

I love this DJ!! He's Durven from Laughing Gravy! Does he look like he's having fun?! He will really add LIFE to your party!! Oh my gosh, he cracks me up!

This shows the cake that Megan and Andy chose for their wedding.  Any guesses who made it?  I will feature this world renowned cake maker who has been featured on National TV. Coming soon...    thanks Kate Benson Photography

What Is A Wedding "Save the Date"?

Ann Elizabeth, Save the Date, BrideAccess

Now is the time to start thinking about sending "Save the Dates". So what exactly is a Save the Date? Ann Elizabeth tell us...

Simply put, a save the date is a card or postcard mailed to loved ones that indicates these important things:

We're Engaged, we've set a date and we want you to be there!

Key elements to include as part of your save the date design are:

The Bride and Groom’s names

The date of the occasion

The city and state of the occasion

“Invitation to follow”

A URL for more details

Including a URL is highly recommended because it directs guests to find details like accommodations, maps and other important travel details at your wedding website, rather than needing to include paragraphs of details on the your save the date.

Not sure when to mail your save the date? Most wedding experts recommend mailing save the dates 6-12 months prior to your wedding date. If your engagement is shorter just be sure to send your save the dates a minimum of four months ahead to allow your guests adequate time to make arrangements.
